     Josip Rađa was born on 18 June 1891, son of Grgo Rađa and Iva Rađa.² As of 18 June 1891, Josip Rađa was also known as Jozo Rađa. He was a cook in the Austria-Hungary army (1912-1918) during World War I. In 1912.³

Josip married Marija Kokeza, daughter of Ilija Kokeza and Jandra Unknown, in February 1919.² At age 28, Josip became the father of Grgo Rađa on 21 January 1920.² At age 30, Josip became the father of Mate Rađa on 30 September 1921. The Status Animarum also shows a possible birth year of 1922.^4,5,2
