Dear brother

I can tell you that I am well and I wish you the same, good health and happiness. I received your letter and a check for 50 dollars. I received your letter on 26 of July, St Ann’s day, and I wrote you back immediately, next letter I wrote around 15 of August, third one a week after that. And you say that I should write more.
I have bad news, Jandra’s daughter Marija died. You asked about Marta Pestica if she got married to Bozo, not yet and if she’s going to I don’t know. I will write more about it in my next letter.
You also asked about our mother, she is as you left her, not better and not worse. You asked about Mate, I received his letter a month ago; he said that he is well.
What are you apologizing for the gift that you sent, it is not small. Don’t worry that you cannot send a package with every letter that you write to us. Write more so we can here what is with you and your family.
Nothing else is new and if there will be any news I will write about it in my next letter. I have to go to Split to get the money, but you can change at very low rate – 65 dinars for 1 dollar. If I get the money today I will write to you.
Now my dear brother receive greetings from our mother, your sister in law and little Jakov and Mate. Greetings from your brothers in law and your sisters and their families.

Bye your brother Josip
