Mate Rađa - 1996
     Mate Rađa was born on 30 September 1921, son of Josip Rađa and Marija Kokeza. The Status Animarum also shows a possible birth year of 1922.2,3,1 He was a baker by profession and finished high school.
He Mate was a Lieutenant in the Domo Bran during World War II. Had earned lots of medals. His unit was guard for General Perisic. Perisic wa a Knight in the Domo Bran. At end of WWII Mate survived the Blieburg masacre, where Tito's Partisans killed many of non-Partisan forces; including Gen Perisic. Jugoslav authorities quizzed Ivan (Mate's brother) and Josko (Ivan's son) when they had to serve in the army (Ivan 18 mos and Josko 12 mos). Mate was released from the army sometime in 1945.3
Mate wrote a letter to Jakov on 7 May 1946. Describes his life in Jugoslavia and his strong desire to come to America.4
Mate wrote a letter to Jakov on circa September 1946. He writes about life in Jugoslavia and asks for some materials.5 He Spent ten months in jail in 1947 for a 'border escape'. In 1950 Mate tried to emmigrate to the US sponsored by Jakov Radja. Jakov had made out the necessary papers and sent to Jugoslavia showing his ownership of a house, etc. The immigration visa was denied for Mate's service in the Domo Bran (Home Defense forces) in May 1947.
