8 Nelson was was serving in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 at Ft Knox, Kentucky. Nelson enlisted as a Private in the Army from 24 October 1942 until the end of World War II. He enlisted in Los Angeles, California. His Army serial number was 39540775. His enlistment record shows him as married, being born in 1903, having four years of high school.
9,8 Nelson was serving in November 1943 at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Arkansas. He was with the Service Battery, 721st Field Artillery Battalion, 66th Infantry Division.
