Elizabeth and children were not listed in the 1906 Directory.²

Listed as 16 years old, attending school, born in California, mother in Iowa and father born in California, can read and write, can speak English, occupation 'none'.⁴
He was graduated on 28 June 1923 from Philharmonic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, Polytechnic High School.⁵

Listed as 26 years old, single, born in California whereas his mother was born in Iowa while his father was born in California, he can read, write and speak English, currently employed as a dry goods salesman. Not a veteran.⁶
He was employed by United States Customs Service Office of the Appraiser of Merchandise ca 1940 to ca 1970 at Los Angeles as a "verifier-opener-packer".⁷

Nelson married Helen Grace Johnson, daughter of Unknown Johnson and Unknown Nevins, on 14 June 1942. Helen and Nelson met through her uncle who also worked for the Customs Service. He invited them to a dinner. They were married after Nelson joined the US Army. After the wedding they moved to Ft Knox, Kentucky.⁸ Nelson was was serving in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 at Ft Knox, Kentucky. Nelson enlisted as a Private in the Army from 24 October 1942 until the end of World War II. He enlisted in Los Angeles, California. His Army serial number was 39540775. His enlistment record shows him as married, being born in 1903, having four years of high school.^9,8 Nelson was serving in November 1943 at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Arkansas. He was with the Service Battery, 721st Field Artillery Battalion, 66th Infantry Division.¹⁰ He and Helen Grace Johnson lived from 1946 to 1973 at 10607 Bowman Avenue, South Gate, California, with Elizabeth Melinda Jones.¹¹ The family gathered at the Gould home on Stearnlee in Long Beach in 1949. Maude Gould, wife of Chas took the picture.⁸ He attended the burial of Ernest Albert Miles on 25 October 1951 at in the Valhalla Memorial Park located in North Hollywood, California.^12,8
Nelson received a letter about 24 September 1966, from Bill Miles,Talks about a bad accident on his water drilling rig which caused the deaths of two people. He must come up immediately with $20,000 in cash to avoid jail and loss of his business. He is asking Nelson to approach their mother to see if she can help out with $10,000 of this. To be paid back. The US Consulate has been of considerable help., at P.O. Box 49, Bethlehem.¹³ He and Helen Grace Johnson lived from April 1974 to August 1989 at in the Rancho Vallecitos Mobile Home Park located in Vista, California.¹⁴ He attended the burial of Floyd Howard Gould on 19 April 1974 at in the El Camino Memorial Park located in San Diego, California.^15,14 He suffered from heart problems in January 1980 at Vista, California. He had to have a quadruple heart bypass surgery. Subsequently, he and wife Helen stopped smoking.^16,8 He attended the burial of Nell Elizabeth Miles on 15 August 1984 at San Diego.^17,8 He died of chronic pulmonary disease on 29 August 1989 at Tri-City Medical Center, 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside, California, at age 85.¹⁸ He was buried on 31 August 1989 in the San Marcos Cemetery located in San Marcos, California. Attendees included Helen Grace Miles, Harry Crossett Miles, Lorna Irene Hawkins, Marilyn Elizabeth Moores, Donna Louise Dilworth, Michael Carl Dilworth, Virginia Anne Dilworth, Bonnie Dilworth, Caroline Elizabeth Radja, Charles Albert Moores and Lee Vernon Hawkins Per his wishes, Nelson's remains were cremated.^8,18
