     Helen Grace Johnson was born on 23 January 1913 at Oklahoma, daughter of Unknown Johnson and Unknown Nevins.¹ She was employed as a school teacher between 1942 and 1972 at Los Angeles, California.³

Helen married Nelson Albert Miles, son of Ernest Albert Miles and Elizabeth Melinda Jones, on 14 June 1942. Helen and Nelson met through her uncle who also worked for the Customs Service. He invited them to a dinner. They were married after Nelson joined the US Army. After the wedding they moved to Ft Knox, Kentucky.³ As of 14 June 1942,her married name was Miles.¹ She lived with Nelson Albert Miles and Elizabeth Melinda Jones from 1946 to 1973 at 10607 Bowman Avenue, South Gate, California.⁴ The family gathered at the Gould home on Stearnlee in Long Beach in 1949. Maude Gould, wife of Chas took the picture.³ She attended the burial of Ernest Albert Miles on 25 October 1951 at in the Valhalla Memorial Park located in North Hollywood, California.^5,3 She attended the marriage of Caroline Elizabeth Gould and James Eugene Radja on 29 August 1954 at North Island Chapel, San Diego, California.³ Helen reluctantly retired from her lifetime of school teaching in 1973 due to illness from severe osteoporosis.³ She lived with Nelson Albert Miles from April 1974 to August 1989 at in the Rancho Vallecitos Mobile Home Park located in Vista, California.⁶ She attended the burial of Floyd Howard Gould on 19 April 1974 at in the El Camino Memorial Park located in San Diego, California.^7,6
Helen wrote a letter to Carol on 4 March 1980 from San Diego, California. She is communicating husband Nelson's good progress after heart surgery. She also mentions a recent visit by Elizabeth Syverson, her husband Steve and baby Lauren to San Diego to visit the Goulds. Harry Miles is busy taking care of his mother-in-law Mrs. Savage.⁸ She attended the burial of Nell Elizabeth Miles on 15 August 1984 at San Diego.^9,3 She attended the burial of Nelson Albert Miles on 31 August 1989 at in the San Marcos Cemetery located in San Marcos, California.^3,10 She died on 30 December 1992 at San Marcos, California, at age 79.¹¹ She was buried in January 1993 San Marcos. Attendees included Bonnie Dilworth, Carol Radja, Virginia Anne Dilworth, Michael Carl Dilworth, Sherry Lynn Dilworth, Arthur Johnson, Joan Johnson and Betty Johnson Per her wishes, Helen's remains were cremated.³ Her estate was probated in January 1993 at Vista, California. Carol Radja and Bonnie Dilworth was Her estate was divided among her brother Arthur C. Johnson and his daughter Joan Straach plus Caroline and Yvonne. Each received $70,000.¹²
