George O. Dilworth and
Belle Dilworth.

Frank Claude Dilworth was stationed as commissioning Commanding Officer in fleet tug USS Pawnee (ATF-), Oakland, California, from November 1942 to March 1943.
10 In late March and early April of 1943 the Pawnee was involved with rescuing the stores ship Delphinus aground on Nomobitigue Reef. This turned out to be exceedingly difficult so the Navy assigned merchant ship salvage expert Lieutenant Commander Emile C. Genereaux to Pawnee to take charge of the operation. Using special techniques, Genereaux's efforts succeeded. Dilworth's seniors were critical of his performance and had him relieved of command. Crew of the Pawnee, very upset over Dilworth's departure, volunteered a departure gift and drafted a farewell letter:
"As our own individual ships sail into the impenetable haze of future years, your friends of the PAWNEE will look back upon the days that we worked and laughed and worked together. During that time the entire complement of your ship has developed admiration, appreciation and respect for you, not only as an officer, a gentleman, and a leader of men, but also as a friend. ...."
11 Frank Claude Dilworth was stationed in USS Argonne (AG-31) in April 1943.
12 Dilworth commissioned attack cargo ship USS Uvalde (AKA-) as Executive Officer. The Uvalde participated in the Phillipines Lingayen Gulf landings. Later, in September 1945, Frank became Uvalde's Commanding Officer.

7 He ended military service on 1 September 1949. He was graduated circa 1950 from Hoover Evening High School, San Diego, California, completed high school requirements. He was graduated circa 1951 from San Diego Junior College, San Diego, California, graduated with a degree in accounting. He was assistant to a CPA and accounting jobs with City Lumber and Ets-Hokin of San Diego. From 1951 to 1977. He attended the burial of
Floyd Howard Gould on 19 April 1974 at
in the El Camino Memorial Park located in San Diego, California.
14,15 Frank and Myrtle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July 1979.
7 He was ill with suffered from parkinson's disease from 1984 to 1987 at San Diego, California. He died on 6 September 1987 at San Diego at age 86. Frank's obituary appeared in the on 7 September 1987. He was buried
San Diego.
