10 He registered for the World War II draft in April 1942 at 17 North Dickerson Street, Laurel Run Borough, Pennsylvania. He is shown as 47 years old, born in Spring Brook, PA, on 22 November 1894. He is working for Sprague & Hernwood Drilling Co, of Scranton, PA in Thornhurst, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
11 He was employed as a miner for the Kidder-Empire Colliery in December 1951 at Pennsylvania. He was paid $1.79 per hour and also received $.04 per hour for working second shift, $.38 per hour for lunch periods and $1.34 per hour for travel time. 12 He died of black lung disease (although there is no complete death certificate available from the state of Pennsylvania) on 2 November 1964 at Wilkes Barre at age 69.
