     Gustav Adolph Bartleson was born on 24 February 1870 at Kjorveneiet, Hadeland, son of Anders Bertelson and Ingeborg Gulbrandson.1

Gustav married Caroline Olson, daughter of Christian Olson and Kari Hanson.1 At age 26, Gustav became the father of Ida Christina Bartleson on 10 March 1896.1 At age 27, Gustav became the father of Carl Anton Bartleson on 19 September 1897.2,1 At age 29, Gustav became the father of Clara Fredrikke Bartleson on 3 November 1899.1 At age 32, Gustav became the father of George Barthel Bartleson on 7 April 1902.2,1 At age 34, Gustav became the father of Harold Otto Bartleson on 28 March 1904 at Forest City, Iowa.3,1 At age 36, Gustav became the father of Ethel Marie Bartleson on 15 April 1906.1 At age 38, Gustav became the father of Helga Cecelia Bartleson on 5 April 1908.1 At age 40, Gustav became the father of Olga Margarethe Bartleson on 9 November 1910.1 At age 44, Gustav became the father of Paul Melvin Bartleson on 28 July 1914.1 At age 46, Gustav became the father of Conrad Henry Bartleson on 4 August 1916.2,1 He was cited by Conrad Magnus Bertelson as his closest relative when he registered for the World War One Draft on 12 September 1918 at Grinnell, North Dakota.4

Enumerated with the head of household was/were Carl Anton Bartleson, Clara Fredrikke Bartleson, George Barthel Bartleson, Harold Otto Bartleson, Ethel Marie Bartleson, Helga Cecelia Bartleson, Olga Margarethe Bartleson, Paul Melvin Bartleson, Conrad Henry Bartleson and Ida Christina Bartleson.5
He was a contractor.1 He died on 10 June 1956 at Forest City at age 86.1
