     Conrad Magnus Bertelson was born on 24 September 1879 at Oppeneiet, Hadland, son of Anders Bertelson and Ingeborg Gulbrandson.2,1

Conrad arrived as an immigrant aboard the an unknown ship on 18 June 1891 at New York City, New York.2 As of June 1915, Conrad Magnus Bertelson was also known as Conrad Magnus Bartleson.2 He filed a Declaration of Intention for Naturalization on 14 June 1915 at White Earth, North Dakota. He used the name Bartleson instead of Bertleson. He declared himself to be a laborer, height 6 feet 3 inches, brown hair and blue eyes, born in Hadland, Norway. He emigrated from Christianice, Norway on a Cunard Line ship. He arrived in New York about 18 June 1891. He renounced all allegiance to Haadlon VII, King of Norway. Since he was only eleven years old upon entering the USA, he did not have to file second papers.2 He registered for the World War One draft on 12 September 1918 at Grinnell, North Dakota. He gave his birthday as 24 September 1879 and his occupation as a farmer in Mountrail County. He declared that he is a citizen of Canada. He cited Gustave Bartleson of Forest City, Iowa as his closest relative.3 He was a trapper.1 He died in 1963.1
