     Petar Rupcich was born on 27 October 1894 at Lovinac, son of Ivan Rupčić. The SSDI has his birth as 14 September 1894.1,2,4

Petar arrived as an immigrant aboard the SS Oceania from Trieste on 5 January 1911 at Ellis Island, New York, New York. Listed as Petar Rupčić, 17 year old male, farm laborer from Ričice, Hungary. Can read and write. Father's name is Ivan Rupčić. Final destination is Kansas City, Kansas. Possesses only $32. Travelling with Dane Knezević, 37 year old male also from Ričice.3 Petar Rupcich was also known as Peter. After arriving in America, Peter went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in Oglala, Nebraska for a year or so.2 Peter eventually moved to Chicago where he opened a restaurant at 100th and Commercial Avenue.2 He registered for the World War One draft on 5 June 1917 at 10838 Torrance Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. He gave his name as Petar Rupčićh and his birthday as 15 December 1894 in Lovinac Croatia. He is single and an alien. His occupation is as a laborer for ByProducts Coke Corp in South Chicago, Illinois. He claims his father and mother and two sisters are solely dependent on him for support.5

Petar married Kata Pešup, daughter of Boja Pesut, in January 1918 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Croatian Catholic Church, 2864 E. 96th Street, Chicago, Illinois.2 At age 24, Petar became the father of Joseph J. Rupcich on 3 April 1919.2

Petar Rupcich is shown as head of household on the US census of 13 January 1920 at 10812 Torrence Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, as Peter Rupich. Listed as 25 years old, renting, shown as having immigrated in 1910 and naturalization petition applied for, born in Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes with Croatian as his mother tongue as was his mother and father, he can read and write and speak English, occupation is 'saloon proprietor'. Enumerated with the head of household was/were Boja Pesut, Kata Pešup, Joseph J. Rupcich, Adams Pešut and Daniel Rupich.6
At age 26, Petar became the father of John Joseph Rupcich on 7 March 1921.7 At age 28, Petar became the father of Lawrence Rupcich on 5 July 1923.2 At age 32, Petar became the father of William M. Rupcich on 13 January 1927.2

Petar Rupcich is shown as head of household on the US census of 18 May 1930 at 10400 Bensley Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, as Peter Reupcich. Listed as 34 years old, owner of $14,000 home with a radio and does not live on a farm, married at age 24 years, has not attended school or college in last six months, shown as having immigrated in 1910 and is naturalized, born in Yugoslavia as was his mother and father, he can read, write and speak English, currently employed as an owner merchant for wholesale fruits, not a veteran. Spoke Croatian at home before immigrating. Enumerated with the head of household was/were Kata Pešup, Joseph J. Rupcich, John Joseph Rupcich, Lawrence Rupcich, William M. Rupcich and John Rupcich.8
He died on 11 April 1980 at age 85.1,2 He was buried on 15 April 1980 in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery located in Calumet City, Illinois.1,2
