Charles D. Casterline was enumerated with Mahlon Casterline on the census of 18 April 1910 at 20 North Dickerson Street, Laurel Run Borough, Pennsylvania, as Charley Casterline. Listed as 20 years old, single, born in Pennsylvania as was his father whereas his mother was born in Germany, he can read, write and speak English, cuurently employed as a bottle washer in a bottling house.6


Charles married Alice A Casterline.7 Charles was registered for the World War I draft on 5 June 1917 at Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He is shown as 28 years old, working as a laborer in Wilkes Barre. He claimed a wife and three children solely dependent on him for support.4

Charles D. Casterline is shown as head of household on the US census of 12 January 1920 at 7 East Hartford Street, Ashley Borough, Pennsylvania, as Charles D. Casterline. Listed as 30 years old, home rented, able to read and write, born in Pennsylvania, father born in Pennsylvania mother born in Germany, speaks English, occupation 'miner' in 'Coal Mine'. Enumerated with the head of household was/were Alice A Casterline, Thomas D Casterline, Arnold E Casterline and Elmer H Casterline.1


Charles D. Casterline is shown as head of household on the US census of 14 April 1930 at 128 East Newport Street, Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, as Charles Casterline. Listed as 40 years old, married at age 22, renter at $5 per month without a radio, born in Pennsylvania as were his mother and father, he can read, write and speak English, currently employed as a plumber in the coal mines. Not a veteran. Enumerated with the head of household was/were Emma Casterline, Thomas D Casterline, Arnold E Casterline, Elmer H Casterline, Alice A Casterline, Myrtle Casterline, Ethel Casterline and Jennie Casterline.8


Charles D. Casterline is shown as head of household on the US census of 15 April 1930 at Luzerne County Prison, Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, as Charles Casterline. Listed as 40 years old, married, born in Pennsylvania, has not attended school the past six months. This census entry is in conflict with the 1930 one showing him living with his family. Perhaps there are two Charles Casterlines?? The 1920 Census shows only one Charles living in Pennsylvania of the right age.9
He registered for the World War II draft in April 1942 at 61 East Northhampton Street, Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He is shown as 52 years old, born in Luzerne County, PA, on 7 January 1890. He is working for William J. Gemmel of 31 North Main Street Ashley, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Rose Prutzman of 37 North Dickerson Street in Laurel Run Borough of Wilkes-Barre, is the person who will always know his address.10 He died on 6 February 1962 at age 72.3 He was buried in the Fern Knoll Burial Park located in Dallas, Pennsylvania.3
