Samuel Fry was born in 1839 at Ohio, son of Henry Fry Junior and Mariah Fry.1
Samuel Fry was enumerated with Henry Fry Junior on the census of 17 October 1850 at Indiana as Samuel Fry. Listed as 11 years old, born in Ohio.1
Samuel Fry was enumerated with Henry Fry Junior on the census of 28 August 1860 at Union Township, Indiana, as Samuel Fry. Listed as 14 years old born in Ohio.2
He submitted an application for letters of guardianship regarding the estate of his father, Henry Fry on 25 August 1869 at Clerk of the Common Pleas Court, Indiana. The guardianship was for minor survivors: Elizabeth Fry (17 yrs), Annie Fry (15 yrs), John W. Fry (13 yrs), Mary Fry (11 yrs), Martha Fry (8 yrs), Maria C. Duease and Lafayette Duease. The latter two being the sole survivors of Sarah Fry Duease. The income from the estate was valued at $600 per year. Half, $300, will go to the minor Fry children and $60 to the Duease children. The remaining $240 to be shared by the adult heirs.3 He and Daniel Fry, Matilda Fry, David Fry, John W. Fry, Martha G. Fry, Maria C. DeWeese, Lafayette DeWeese, Elizabeth Fry and Anna Fry were the heirs of the estate of Henry Fry Junior probated on 3 November 1869 at Clerk of the Common Pleas Court, Indiana. The heirs each received $31.03, except for the Duease children who each received half of that.4
