Neal William McCurdy was enumerated with William B. McCurdy on the census of 24 April 1910 at Pleasantdale Township, Kansas, as William A. McCurdy. Listed as 10 years old, single, born in Kansas whereas his father was born in Illinois and his mother was born in Kansas.⁴
He registered for the World War 1 Draft on 12 September 1918 at Bison, Kansas. He is shown as 18 years old, born on 26 March 1901, occupation is farming employed by his father W.B. McCurdy (also listed as his nearest relative) in Bison, Rush County, Kansas. Described as tall of medium build, blue eyes and light colored hair with no physical disabilities.⁵

Neal William McCurdy is shown as head of household on the US census of 21 January 1920 at Ellis City, Kansas, as Neal W. McCurdy. Listed as 20 years old, single, renting, born in Kansas whereas his mother and father were born in Illinois, employed as a fireman on the Union-Pacific Railroad.⁶


Neal married Elsie Fay Percival in 1921.⁷ He was a locomotive foreman in 1922 at Kansas.¹ At age 22, Neal became the father of Warren Neal McCurdy on 22 September 1922 at Plainville, Kansas.¹ He lived from 1930 to 1938 at 500 South Monroe Street, Ellis City, Kansas, with Elsie Fay Percival and Warren Neal McCurdy. The residence period was probably a lot longer, but this is the only firm info available.^8,7

Neal William McCurdy is shown as head of household on the US census of 19 April 1930 at Ellis City as Neal McCurdy. Shown as 30 years old, owning his own home, not on a farm, valued at $4,100 with a radio, married at age 21 years, born in Kansas as was his father while his mother was born in California, employed as a railroad locomotive fireman and shown as a veteran. Enumerated with the head of household was/were Elsie Fay McCurdy and Warren Neal McCurdy.⁷
He was employed as a railroad road foreman. His main run was between Denver and Kansas.^2,9 He and Elsie Fay McCurdy lived at 3010 Tennyson Street, Denver, Colorado 1984.² He died of cardiac failure on 21 January 1985 at Lakewood Nursing Home, Lakewood, Colorado, at age 84.² He was buried on 24 January 1985 in the Crown Hill Cemetery located in Colorado. Burial services were performed by the Moore-Howard Mortuaries at 800 East 17th Avenue, Denver. Burial lots are in Section 2 of Unit A and Section 1 of Unit B of Lot 65 in Block 47.²
