Ola Fossĺ was born on 25 March 1883 at Fossĺ, Hjelmeland, son of
Haldor Fossaaen and
Johanna Johnsdotter.
1 Ola arrived as an immigrant in New York in May 1903. He was never to return to Norway.
2,1,3 He filed a Declaration of Intention for Naturalization on 4 March 1905 at Eigth Judicial District Court, Minot, North Dakota.
2 He filed a Petition for Naturalization on 8 June 1909 at District Court of North Dakota, North Dakota. Farmers Edd Fossaa and John Fossaa of Sorkness, North Dakota signed an affidavit as to Ole's living in the US for the previous five years. Having taken the Oath of Allegiance, he was admitted to US citizenship on 5 November 1909 with Certificate 122001.
4 He was granted a US Land Patent for 317.92 acres described as:
