Jone Fossĺ was born on 18 February 1879 at Stavenger, son of
Haldor Fossaaen and
Johanna Johnsdotter.
1 Jone arrived as an immigrant aboard the but returned to Norway on vacation. In 1898 at Ocean, Iowa.
2,3 Jone arrived as an immigrant aboard the Cunard Line SS Lucania from Liverpool, England on 2 April 1899 at
Ellis Island, New York, New York. He was a single 20 year old Norwegian farmer able to read and write. His last residence was Stavenger, Norway. He was on his way with a ticket to "Ossien, Ia" to join his brother. Passage was paid by his brother. He had $5.00 in his possession.

on 14 June 1907 at 155-N, North Dakota. He filed a Petition for Naturalization on 4 February 1908 at District Court of North Dakota, North Dakota. Farmers Edd Fossaa and George Sorkness of Sorkness, North Dakota signed an affidavit as to John's living in the US for the previous five years. Having taken the Oath of Allegiance, he was admitted to US citizenship on 18 June 1908 with Certificate 104452. His Petition said he arrived in New York on the SS Campania.

H. L. Stensland, on 30 December 1925 at Adams, North Dakota. Mrs. H. L. Stensland announces the marriage of her daughter Olava Berthine to Mr. John Fossaa Wednesday, December thirtieth nineteen hundred twenty-five Adams, N. Dak. (At home, about April 1st, White Earth, N. Dak.).
