Michael Joseph Quirke September 1950
     Michael Joseph Quirke was born on 11 June 1883 at Newcastlewest, Province of Munster, son of Patrick Quirke and Mary Quirke.1,2,3

Michael at age 24 arrived as an immigrant aboard the SS Saxonia on 26 September 1907 at Boston, Massachusetts. This was a return trip to Lowell, Massachusetts to be with his brother Joseph Quirke at 1040 Bridge Street. It appears that he left Lowell in 1907 for Ireland, returning the same year. While in Ireland, Michael was with his father, Patrick Quirke, in Newcastlewest, County Limerick. On the passenger list, he is cited as height five foot six inches with black hair and grey eyes.2 He was employed by woolen mills in 1907 at Lowell, Massachusetts.1 Michael was registered for the World War I draft on 12 September 1918 at Chicago, Illinois. Listed himself as a non-declared Ireland alien living with his wife at 7956 South Halsted Street in Chicago. Occupation shown as salesman Bremner Bros. at 901-909 Joque St. Chicago.3

Michael married Celia Ann Morley, daughter of John Morley and Mary Hughes Morley, on 2 May 1923 at Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago, Illinois.1 At age 40, Michael became the father of Mary Cecile Quirke on 10 March 1924. At age 44, Michael became the father of Eileen Therese Quirke on 30 September 1927. At age 46, Michael became the father of Kieren Therese Quirke on 13 September 1929.

Michael Joseph Quirke is shown as head of household on the US census of 7 April 1930 at 6919 Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, as Michael J. Quirke. Listed as 46 years old, first married at age 27 years, owns his $9,500 home without a radio, born in Irish Free State, father born in Irish Free State, mother born in England, can read and write and speak English, native language is English. Immigrated in 1905, naturalization petition applied for, employed as a sub-jobber for a candy manufacturer. Enumerated with the head of household was/were Mary Cecile Quirke, Eileen Therese Quirke, Kieren Therese Quirke, Celia Ann Morley and Thomas Hughes.4
At age 50, Michael became the father of John Quirke on 6 August 1933. At age 51, Michael became the father of Loretta Margret Quirke on 2 November 1934 at Chicago, Illinois. He attended the marriage of Eileen Therese Quirke and John Linden on 2 September 1950.1 During his lifetime, Michael did not apply for US citizenship (naturalization).1 He died on 12 December 1951 at Chicago at age 68.1 He was buried on 14 December 1951 in the St Mary's Catholic Cemetery located in Evergreen Park, Illinois.5
