Knut Fossa
     Reference: 134. Knut Fossĺ was born on 18 March 1887 at Fossĺ, Hjelmeland, son of Haldor Fossaaen and Johanna Johnsdotter.

Knut arrived as an immigrant aboard the Knut arrived in the USA as an immigrant in 1905. In 1905.1 Knut was serving in the US Army as a registrant from Mountrail County from 29 March 1918 to 17 August 1918 at Company C, 163rd Depot Brigade, Camp Dodge, Iowa. He was an alien. His Army Number was 2,560,209. He was discharged at Fort Des Moines, Iowa as a Private with a 10% disability.2 He died from being kicked by a horse. On 13 July 1920 at Minot, North Dakota, at age 33. A biography of Knut appeared in the 'Tales of Mighty Mountrail' in 1979.3
