Odd Fossa
     Reference: 125. Odd Fossĺ was born on 16 February 1876 at Fossĺ, Hjelmeland, son of Haldor Fossaaen and Johanna Johnsdotter.1,2 Odd arrived as an immigrant in Ocean, Iowa in 1898.2,3 Odd Fossĺ was also known as Edd Fossaa. He filed a Declaration of Intention for Naturalization on 1 July 1902 at Eigth Judicial District Court, Minot, North Dakota. He stated that he landed in New York in April of 1896.4 He filed a Petition for Naturalization on 17 June 1907 at District Court, North Dakota. Farmer George Sorkness of Sorkness, North Dakota signed an affidavit as to Edd's living in the US for the previous five years. Having taken the Oath of Allegiance, he was admitted to US citizenship on 4 February 1908.5 He returned to Norway on vacation. The family farm Řvre Fossaaen, gnr. 18, bnr. 1, was conveyed to him in 1919.1 He died on 29 September 1965 at Lutheran Home, Minot, North Dakota, at age 89.2 He was buried in September 1965 in the Beauty Valley Cemetery located in Bicker Township, North Dakota.2 A biography of Edd appeared in the 'Burke County and White Earth Valley Historical Society' book in 1971.2 A biography of Edd appeared in the 'Tales of Mighty Mountrail' in 1979.6
