Zagreb 4th of April 1950.
Dear aunt!
Few days ago, I received your letter, which I expected with great joy and curiosity. You cannot imagine how happy I was when I saw that you have sent shoes and skates and the rest of things (I will enjoy cocoa) for which I thank you. But that is not it I am now eagerly expecting next package which is still traveling I think. Every day when I come to school, I ask before I come to the classroom Has the package arrived? But there is always the same answer – no. Now I will write about myself as you asked. I was born on first of May 1933 and I will be 17 in a few days. I am 1m 70cm tall and I am in the 7th grade of high school. Here in Yugoslavia we have 4 grades of elementary school and 8 grades of gymnasium after that you graduate from high school. It is obligatory for everybody to finish seven year of schooling – 4 grades of elementary and 3 grades of high school, everything above that is on your free will. After 8th grade of Gymnasium, you can go to University (Technical, Medical etc.) that much about that.
I have to thank you for the pictures you sent and which I like very much. I would be very happy if Dolores could write me a letter if she has time to do it, I would like to get to know her even through letters. I think I would even understand English. I would also write her back and I would write about what interests her about us and Yugoslavia. Once more, I have to thank you for the package and when I receive another, one I will write to you again if you don’t write sooner.
I will finish with greetings to you, Ivanica and barba.
Vera
P.S. Happy Easter I wish you spend it in good mood.
Please provide corrections as needed....
