Ogorje 6 of September 1928.
Dear brother!
First I can tell you that we are all well thank God and we wish you the same good health. I received your letter on fifth of September 1928 and it made us all very happy. We are glad to hear that you are well. What are you writing about the death of Petar he died in April in 1928 little after I wrote you a letter. A cousin told me that she would write to Nikola because I didn’t want to write it immediately. Petar went to Split when he came back he got sick and died of pneumonia after 8 days. You asked about Jure and Simun, they don’t have much, this year has not been good as were the last few. Children of late Peter also live poorly. Ante from Marta is back from the army but he is very sick (pneumonia) and they were afraid he would get tuberculosis. Marta is well as is the rest of her family, Jandra is also well only Niko is complaining that his bones hurt when he is not working. Cvita and her husband are well, aunt and her family are also well. Nothing new in our village, we are building a school we started but God knows when we are going to finish. We got from the state 40 000 dinars, we don't have money for transportation and stone. This year is bad, wheat and corn were weak, no potatoes or cabbage. It rained on second of June and nothing from then, if it doesn’t rain in 10 days we will have to move near water.
Now receive a greeting from your brother. Mother is grateful for the money you sent and her wish is to get more letters from you. Greetings from your sisters, sister in law, nephew, brother Josip and aunt and all the rest.
Bye your brother Mate
