Dear brother!
First I can tell you that I have received your letter and understood everything you wrote. I received 42 dollars, I divided it according to your wish, and everybody was satisfied. We are grateful for this gift. I was very happy when I received your letter. You wrote that you are planning to get married and I am very happy because of that, but I would be even happier if I could attend the wedding and see the happiness. But Great Ocean divides us. Nevertheless we can be there in our thoughts, I am sad that we are not writing more. Write about your future wife, are her parents from our parts from Dalmatia or somewhere else. What is with Nikola you never write about him, did he get married, do you think he is planning? Say hi to him and everybody we know.
Dear brother, it is nice weather here for the last few days thank God, but the year was bad and people are very poor. Only working places are three cement factories, one closed down, a lot of people here but no jobs. Nothing else is a new, greeting from your mother and she is asking you to write more often at least every third month, so she can hear about you and she could feel better. Now greetings from your sisters Jandra, Marta, Cvita, your sister in law and Jozo. They are grateful for your gift. Ante husband of Marta is going to serve in the army.
Now receive a greeting from your brother Mate and greetings to your bride.
Please provide corrections as needed....
