Dear brother!
First I can tell you that we are well thank God and we wish you the same. I received your letter and with it check for 20 dollars, which you sent to mother and one dollar. I understood everything. Since you left didn’t have any more kids, Jandra has three kids one son and two daughters. Cvita doesn’t have any kids, Jozo has four three sons and one daughter, Jure has three, Filip two. I have put a concrete on the lower part of the house, there I have a store where I sell salt, coffee, sugar, cookies, pasta, rise and other stuff. I have made the attic and I made a room there are still some things to do. I would like to make one more room but I don’t have the money.
We have 36 sheep, 2 cows, and 2 donkeys. I give your every letter to Jozo to read so he knows what are you writing about. Dear brother you have to decide once and for all what to do, I think it would be best for you to come home and get married while you are young. It is better then to be alone there. When a man gets old and he has no family he is like old tree in the forest. Receive a greeting from your old and never forgotten mother, brothers, sisters, sisters in law, nephews, aunt and her family. Love your brother Mate.
